The Cat's Meow![/size]
Name ;; Silhouette
Gender ;; She-Cat
Age ;; 12 moons
Clan ;; Rogue
Rank ;; Rogue
Picture ;;
Appearance ;;
Small is the ideal size for sneaking around unnoticed, so Silhouette views her lack of mass as quite the blessing. This female is a petite cat in all meanings of the word, for she is short and slight, but precisely proportional, like a perfectly formed cat on a diminutive scale. Her legs are thin, ending in small but graceful paws. The tail is slender and of a medium length. The chest is narrow and the body compact, perfectly packaging the she-cat’s lean musculature. A glossy, even coat of ink black covers the entire body, save for the matching black nose and pads. Silhouette’s face is remarkably pretty, round and even, and topped by alert ears that are gray-white on the inside. Her muzzle is graced with medium-length, silvery whiskers. Slanted, clever eyes are a very pale color, and precisely whether that color is yellow or green is difficult to determine, for the hue fluctuates depending on the lighting.
Personality ;;
A rogue is a rogue; what more can I say? Silhouette is what she must be to fill her station in life. She is a rough, tough cat, unafraid of fighting or hardships like hunger or injuries. Physical pain is not a big problem for this she-cat; she almost welcomes it, because it proves just how tough she is. She does like to keep up the image of a street cat, and can be quite boastful about her various strengths that allow her to be such a successful stray. She is proud of what she is, and has absolutely no intentions to change. She is crafty enough to be a very good thief, and this is another thing she is proud of, though she does not advertize her thievery quite as much as her other features.
That said, Silhouette is a smart cat. She can’t tell you about herbs or memorize facts or anything of that sort, but she can use her brains and learn on the job, a vital part of being a rogue. She’s clever and witty, and with a quick tongue to match, though this is something that does get her in trouble. Her intelligence never seems to quite cover retribution for the things she says to other cats. Still, street smarts are definitely present, and she knows how to find food, how to avoid twolegs, and all sorts of survival tricks. She keeps on her toes, because this is what is necessary.
Then into the personality of a stereotypical rogue walks the contradiction. Rogues are supposed to be independent, fend-for-themselves kind of cats. Well, Silhouette does fit this description; she’s a lone operator and can take care of herself without any help from anybody. However, rogues are also supposed to reject deeper ties with other cats. When it comes to friendship, Silhouette does try to keep her distance. However, she’s the kind of cat who, if she gets along with you well enough to begin with and you stick with her, is going to become attached to you. She has the potential to form very close bonds with cats.
Furthermore, Silhouette is the kind of cat who would throw herself in front of a bus to save somebody she loves. Despite the fact she’s wandered off without them, she’d do anything to save her brothers, and will undoubtedly do the same for any good friends she makes. She may not act like the best friend type, and is likely to taunt and be harsh even to those she cares about most, but when it comes to a crisis, Silhouette is going to be there. She’s more likely to show how much she loves you by clubbing you over the head than by being sweet, but she still loves you. Friends mean a lot to this she-cat.
History ;;
Cupcake was just an ordinary house pet, well liked by a middle-income family and living a very average life for a cat. Falling in love, though, reduced the average status of her life, as falling in love tends to do. Her choice for a lover was a homeless alley cat who she knew only as Bandit. He was wily, crafty, dirty, but charming in a roguish way. The pet was smitten, and Bandit became affectionate enough with her to mate with her. The resulting litter, which surprised but was accepted by Cupcake’s human family, consisted of four: Scooter, Gizmo, Jonas, and Kiki.
When the foursome could walk, Cupcake introduced them to their father. She had not told them about his wild ways, so the kittens assumed that Bandit was just another pet who lived in a different house. The tom visited his children every now and then, and these occasions were full of playing and joy. Kiki especially grew attached to her father. She began to spend one-on-one time with her father, though she also roughhoused with her brothers often. She was much less close to her mother than to the toms in her life.
Finally, Bandit told Kiki that he wasn’t a house pet at all, but a street cat, living rough without the help of those twolegged folk. Kiki was appalled, not by what her father had said, but because she was angry with her mother. The kitten never confronted Cupcake for lying to her children, but the young she-cat began to harbor bitterness for her mother. She grew even closer to her father, but a day came when he stopped visiting altogether. Whether he died or just wandered off is still a mystery, but Kiki never saw the wild tom again.
Not long after, the time came when the kittens were put up for adoption. Kiki intentionally made herself unpleasant when prospective families arrived to choose a kitten. After the first kit, Jonas, was taken away, Kiki finally confronted her mother about not telling her children the truth about their father. This “confrontation” was really just the daughter screaming at her mother, and Cupcake offering no defense. At the end of this, Kiki ran away from the home of her kithood and took to the streets as a rogue cat. She rechristened herself Silhouette, cutting that which tied her to being a pet.
At this time, she was still just a kitten, but she quickly attached herself to a gang of rogues; it was the only way she could survive on the streets. She quickly learned the pitiless ways of the humanless cat. She became rough, gaining experience with the harshness of life on her own. Still, she made friends amongst others like her, kittens who were joining bands of rogues and roaming the streets according to the rules of the gang bosses. Unlike many others, though, Silhouette showed great promise, as a sneak and as a fighter. Despite her youth, the she-cat gained status amongst the street cats.
There was one great rule of the rogue gangs: don’t bring the twolegs down on us.
Silhouette broke that great rule.
Many moons later, she chanced upon her brother, Scooter, living in a house in part of her gang’s territory. She came to visit him often. While her brother was a healthy, well-groomed house cat, Silhouette was a filthy, flea-ridden stray, and unwittingly, she passed parasites to her better-cared-for sibling. His owners discovered this, and also discovered that the cause was a stray. Soon after, traps were being set for stray cats around the area. Silhouette was clever enough to not get caught, but others were not so brainy.
When it was discovered that it was Silhouette’s fault that the traps were being set, she was chased away from the gang’s territory, forbidden to ever return. The black she-cat knew if she did return, the other cats would likely kill her. She set off down the road, heading away from that town and searching for some other in which she could establish herself.
This brings us to today.
