The Dark Forest, or Place of No Stars, is the complete opposite of Starclan. Evil, murderous cats and traitors of the clans, who have died, must suffer in isolation as they wander this empty forest. They cannot be in contact with any others who roam this desolate place. They can, however visit the living clan cats in dreams. There are also special occasions where cats stuck in the Dark Forest can come in contact with cats from Starclan, though it is rare.
